I had posted that a game featuring characters from Capcom fighting characters from Namco had surfaced on the internet. That game has now been made official by an announcement at Comic-con and is titled Street Fighter X Tekken. (That is read as Street Fighter Cross Tekken)
The game won’t be out for about 2 years according to Capcom and Namco, but hopefully all of the news between then will help fans with the wait.
It’s official, Sony has announced that LittleBigPlanet 2 will launch this year on November 16th! Sony has also revealed that a collectors edition of the game will be released for $79.99 and will feature tons of extras.
The collectors edition will come with bonus DLC Sackboys, bookends, a rad Sackboy plushie, and of course the game itself. If you pre-order the game you will also get a download code for a special Sackboy. Depending on where you pre-order the game from will determine what Sackboy you get. Gamestop promises a special Tron Sackboy, where Bestbuy offers a cute Toy Story alien Sackboy.
I am sure my friend Thomas will flip when he sees the plushie. This collectors edition is more than worth the extra $20.
Dead Rising 2: Case Zero Arrives On XBLA Next Month
On August 31st Xbox 360 owners will be able to download Dead Rising 2: Case Zero on Xbox LIVE. Capcom’s downloadable title will introduce players to Dead Rising 2’s protagonist Chuck Greene and will feature gameplay from the upcoming title.
Case Zero will also link Dead Rising 2 with the original game and allow you to unlock exclusive in game items for the sequel.
I can’t wait to duct tape two chainsaws to an ore and butcher waves of zombies!
After 2k revealed that the legendary Michael Jordan was going to be featured as the cover star for NBA 2k11 there was much speculation that you would also be able to play as Jordan. Today all of the rumors can be put to rest because the “Jordan Experience” has been unveiled.
Like many people I don’t want to pay $150 dollars to wave my body in front of a TV. However, if you drop $60 bucks off the end price I might consider it. Right now Toys-R-Us has a pre-order promotion running for Kinect, and is offering the motion gaming device for only $89.99!
If you have any interest in Kinect at all then you probably should jump on this deal before it expires.
Go HERE and enter the promo code 939418 at checkout.
NOTE: As soon as I post this the deal gets nixed. I am sure anyone who was able to order it will have their order canceled. Sorry folks, but I guess if something is too good to be true, it is.
Earlier today an image appeared on the official gallery for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on Marvel.com. The image showed 2 new characters joining the roster after the 4 that were announced yesterday. It would appear that now the image has been completely removed, but not before many could see that both Thor and Amaterasu made the final cut.
I am sure most of you are very familiar with Thor, but probably not so much with Amaterasu. If you haven’t played Okami, which you really should if you haven’t, then the Wolf Goddess Amaterasu is an odd site to see in a fighting game. Actually, even if you have played the game it comes as a huge surprise that Capcom would add her to the end roster.
Despite the weirdness of fighting as a wolf, I think she is a great addition and will definitely please all of the cult following of Okami.
Yesterday EA announced 6 new titles that are in development for various platforms. Among these games was the spiritual successor to Spore, Darkspore.
Darkspore’s gameplay is a combination of dungeon crawler and user generated content like Spore. Players will be able to create their own warrior using the familiar creation engine from Spore, and use it in a Diablo style game. Co-operative play is highly encouraged like most games of this genre and there is a major emphasis on the collection of sweet loot as well.
People playing Darkspore will be able to use magic or physical attacks to make their way through different dungeons. At the end of each level players can opt into a double-or-nothing type system where you can keep the end items given to you, or continue to a harder level for the chance to double their loot.
Darkspore will release on PC and is slated for sometime in February 2011.
Spore was such a great concept, but ended up failing. This game has a lot of great ideas and I hope this time they are executed correctly. I am talking to you Will Wright.
I haven’t done a contest in awhile, so I have decided to get rid of a spare game. I have one download code for Obscure: The Aftermath for the PSP to give to one lucky winner.

Make sure to tweet the whole thing including the hashtag to enter! As stated in the tweet the contest will end this Friday.
Note: You can RT it once per day to get a total of 3 entries.
As if Marvel vs. Capcom 3 wasn’t enough, rumors are popping up all over the internet about another Capcom versus title in the works.
According to various sources a game featuring characters from some of Namco’s famous franchises, such as Tekken, and characters from various Capcom games will be announced soon. The fighters will be pitted against each other in a 2.5D fighter similar to that of Street Fighter IV. Perhaps the screenshot above is an actual screen from the upcoming game?
Of course this is all complete speculation until proven true, but possibly more details will be released at Comic-Con. I can only hope to pit Dig Dug against Mega Man.
I have to admit that I have never actually watched the Deadliest Warrior on Spike, but I have always loved the idea of pitting two great warriors of different backgrounds against each other. When I heard Spike was launching a game after their successful TV franchise I was quite skeptical. Most TV or movie to game translations end up being completely lackluster and find their way to the bargain bins in no time flat. Deadliest Warrior seems to actually beat that curse and deliver solid visuals and gameplay in a small XBLA package.
Deadliest Warrior pays homage to a host of great fighters including games like the Soulcalibur series and one of my PSone favorites, Bushido Blade. The game relies heavy on a more tactical approach to battle and has players strategically planning their fights by working with the strengths of their warrior. Much like Bushido Blade one quick combo from your opponent can easily defeat you if you don’t block or counter properly. The title features 8 different warriors total, each with varying ranged and melee attacks. These warriors include the Apache, Centurion, Ninja, Knight, Samurai, Pirate, Spartan, and Viking. At first glance the characters seem very unbalanced, but after playing through with each character you will find out that the game actually offers a rather balanced playing field.
Visually Deadliest Warrior is a fantastic looking arcade game, but can suffer from frame rate hiccups from time to time. When the game is running smoothly it’s incredible to see your warrior decapitate an opponent or amputate them limb by limb. It really plays to those Mortal Kombat fans whose guilty pleasure is to tear their opponent into pieces, and it works very well.
The score in Deadliest Warrior is completely forgettable and nothing to really note. The sound effects however, are spot on and add a nice atmosphere to the game. Hearing your warrior’s taunt adds a great level of uniqueness to your character and hearing the sounds of arms and legs separating or metal clinging really sets the mood of a fight.
In the end Deadliest Warrior will only take you about 3+ hours to beat arcade mode with all of the warriors and unlock their second tier of weapons and armor. After finishing this up you will be treated to a challenge mode that adds a little bit more to the single player experience. The challenges can get stale after you play around with both survival and survival slice, but are a blast to play. I suppose I am sadistic and enjoy slicing off the heads of waves of enemies.
Though multiplayer is king in fighting games, and Deadliest Warrior offers a few modes in this category. You of course have the traditional local battle where you and a friend can go head to head on the same TV, but it also features an online battle mode. Online you can either play ranked, unranked, or tournament matches. It’s not the best online fighting experience I have ever had, but solid for an arcade title none the less.
For 800 MSP the game is a steal for any fighting fan who loves gore and more thought provoking fights. The achievements are rather easy and even a novice like me had no problem racking them up, but the online achievement may take some time. I have to hand it to Spike for making a solid fighter with unique gameplay and memorable battles.
Gamestop.com is having a sale on tons of new and used items. Some of the items are up to 50% off and offer freebies with certain purchases. There are actually a lot of good deals here so go take a look.

I’m not sure who still plays Assassin’s Creed II, but if you do and really want more from the game then this is your week. Starting today Xbox LIVE Gold members will receive discounts on select AC2 DLC and AC2 Avatar gear.
I have never really cared about owning fancy shoes. In fact, I only own moccasins and both pairs I own are falling apart. However, Nike is set to release a new line of shoes this Holiday season that all dorks like me will buy.
The Street Fighter Nike SB Dunk Pack features shoes inspired by Capcom’s Street Fighter II chracters. The pack will have a Ryu mid top Dunk and a Chun-li low top Dunk. Both shoes mimic the fighter’s outfits and are super awesome.
I feel like I did when I first saw the Marty McFly Hyperdunks, but hopefully these wont cost $300. I just want to lightning kick someone with my Chun-li Dunks on!
Everyone loves free stuff, and today Valve is dishing out a fantastic freebie. Starting today users of Steam will be able to download Alien Swarm for free. Alien Swarm is a top-down 4 person co-op shooter in the vain of Alien Syndrome and will feature all the trimmings a regular Steam game offers.
Why wouldn’t you download a free game? If anything you can get some achievements off the game.
Not too long ago a mysterious Mega Man title appeared on the internet called Mega Man Universe. Many speculated that it could be some sort of MMO attempt by Capcom, but today we finally get a glimpse of what the game may actually be.
The creator of Mega Man, Keiji Inafune, has stated that "imagination is the star of the game" and that this game was made for all of us folks that grew up with the Blue Bomber. The game will stay true to it’s 8-bit roots, much like Mega Man 9 & 10 have, but be "something that you have never seen before," says Inafune. He has also hinted that the trailer does reveal some details about the game.
I seriously squealed like a little girl while watching the trailer. In my opinion the game will more than likely feature Rock with various Capcom character’s powers. Since Inafune says imagination weighs heavy in the game, could we possibly see players being able to customize their own Mega Man? I sure hope so!
The game will be released to XBLA and PSN. I am guessing it will also make its way to WiiWare as well.

Microsoft has confirmed today that there will be no season 3 for the very popular 1 vs. 100 game on Xbox LIVE. The future of the series was already uncertain after no real updates had been unveiled recently.
This comes as a huge surprise after the 1 vs. 100 beta season did extremely well and had over 114,000 users playing the game simultaneously on Xbox LIVE. Microsoft has stated that they will be “focusing their skills and applying the technology used to develop “1 vs 100” to new projects that will be unveiled in the future.”
I really can’t express how upset I am about this. 1 vs. 100 LIVE was something I looked forward to every week for it’s great trivia. I never even made it to the mob and now I never will! I hope these future “projects” will be as revolutionary and fun as what the team did with 1 vs. 100.
Irrational Games Finds Old System Shock 2 Sketches
Before Irrational Games was wowing this current generation of gamers with Bioshock they were releasing awesome games like Freedom Force and Tribes. One of their biggest claims to fame came in the 1999 PC release, System Shock 2.
Recently Irrational Games uncovered an original sketchbook featuring conceptual art for System Shock 2 and released it in their “From the Vault” section of the website. For those of you who truly appreciated this masterpiece of a game it’s a must see.
Famitsu magazine recently featured comments from big time Japanese game developers on their thoughts about the new Nintendo 3DS platform. Surprise! Everyone loves it!
"Video games need three things to be successful: a concept, a technology platform, and good marketing. The Nintendo 3DS is a perfect example of those three things bundled into one." -Keiji Inafune, producer, Capcom
Do you like Contra? Do you have some spare time to mess around on Facebook? Do you enjoy actions movies featuring every known action superstar? Then you should probably take a look at the Expendables 8-bit game on Facebook.com.
The game features classic 8-bit platforming/shooting, 3 selectable characters, and lots of fun.
Dragon Age 2 More Like Mass Effect? + First Screens
The screens and information have started to appear for Dragon Age 2 thanks to Gameinformer’s exclusive. Fans of the original title may end up being disappointed with some of the new things planned, but could welcome the changes that Bioware has in store for it’s fantasy RPG.
Bioware has made a few alterations to the latest installment of Dragon Age that give it more of a Mass Effect feel. Instead of the more traditional tree dialogue system the game has implemented the wheel style of dialogue selection that is featured in Mass Effect. The story for Dragon Age 2 starts during the final moments of the 1st Dragon Age and will continue the story from there. This is where Bioware brings in another Mass Effect inspired gameplay feature in the implementation of using your save files from the past game to alter the play of the new game. Players will be able to use their Dragon Age 1 saves and depending on how they played the first game it will have some effect on Dragon Age 2.
Though these changes may not really alter the gameplay, but rather enhance it, there is one huge change coming to Dragon Age 2 other than the art style. While PC players of Dragon Age 2 will still experience the more strategic style of combat featured in the first game, players of the console versions will be getting a more action oriented combat system. I can only speculate that this will make the game more of an Action RPG rather than the more Classical RPG it once was.
Sorry Console gamers, your Dragon Age 2 is literally Mass Effect with swords. I really don’t see this as a problem, but I can see how fans of the series will be very upset with this change.
Yesterday Bioware dropped news that Dragon Age 2 would be coming out next year. It’s not that shocking due to the fact that the first game was met with such critical acclaim. Gameinformer managed to snag an exclusive on it, so all of you who were forced to buy an EDGE card should be reading more about it soon.
The details released so far are that you will be playing as a new hero, in a different part of the world than the first game, and the graphics won’t suck this time. Also, the story promises to be more “epic” as well as span over 10 years and chronicle a rise to power for the main character.
The release date is set for March 2011, but Bioware has mentioned a special February 1st release date for something else Dragon Age related. I am guessing a re-release of the first game, but with the new beefed up engine.
I love Red Dead Redemption. The addition of the Outlaws to the End DLC was great, but even more add-ons would be great. Unfortunately this time the DLC won’t be free and will set you back $10 per add-on pack. Rockstar has released some great paid DLC before for Grand Theft Auto 4 and I can only speculate that these packs will be well worth the money.
Starting in August Rockstar will be releasing 4 different DLC packs periodically. Here is a tentative list of dates and content added:
Legends and Killers Pack (Early August 2010, $10)
-New active map locations, characters and more -9 new multiplayer map locations — more than doubling the amount of territories in the multiplayer competitive modes -8 new multiplayer characters — play as characters from Red Dead Revolver -Introducing a new projectile weapon: the Tomahawk, with corresponding challenges for single-player and multiplayer gameplay -New achievements and trophies
Liars and Cheats Pack (TBD release date, $10)
- New competitive modes, multiplayer mini-games in Free Roam, and more - Attack and Defend multiplayer competitive mode and challenges - New multiplayer horse races, complete with mounted combat - Play as the heroes and villains of Red Dead Redemption, as well as 8 additional multiplayer characters - Multiplayer versions of Liars Dice and Poker from the single-player game - Introducing a new weapon: the Explosive Rifle, with associated challenges available in single-player and multiplayer gameplay - New achievements and trophies
Free Roam Pack (TBD release date, $10)
-Delve deeper into the world of Red Dead Redemption with new modes, challenges and gang hideouts to discover -New action areas and defensive placements -Posse scoring and leaderboards -New anti-griefing measures in Free Roam
Undead Nightmare Pack (TBD release date, $10)
- Ghost towns and cemeteries come alive in a West gone horribly wrong - Brand new single-player adventure, challenges and quests - 8 new multiplayer zombie characters - Additional animals unleashed in the world - New dynamic events and more
If you can’t wait for Dead Space 2 this January then maybe some story linking Dead Space and Dead Space 2 will fill the void. EA has announced that they will be releasing a prequel game for both the Playstation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade.
The game will feature an “interactive comic-style story with three unique hacking mini games” and will “challenge players with puzzles and twitch gameplay.” It will also feature a “choose your own adventure” story that could lead you to one of 4 different endings. Each ending completed will reward you will a special in-game item for Dead Space 2.
I’m not too sure how puzzles and twitch gameplay will be as scary as crazy alien monsters, but we will see.
If for some reason you didn’t download DLC for one of your favorite games then now is the time. 10 different older DLC add-ons have recently dropped in price on Xbox LIVE, most of which are now on 80 MSP. (That’s only a $1!)
Today is Bungie Day and honestly I could care less, but I know millions of you actually love the Master Chief. So to celebrate Bungie Day Bungie will be allowing everyone who is playing Halo 3 to wear the employee only flaming armor.
The Wall Street Journal claims that both Nintendo and Sony have been talking to 3G providers in hopes to bring the service to their new portable systems. Sony has yet to actually release anything on a new PSP, but it’s obvious that with the 3DS on the horizon that they have something up their sleeve.
With iPads, iPods and whatnot starting to make a mark on the gaming market the companies really have no choice but to adapt. I just hope the service doesn’t cost ungodly amounts of money.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Dated for August 4th
My only problem with this is I want it to come out sooner! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this XBLA exclusive title, it’s a super cool new Castlevania with an emphasis on Co-op play!
The game will release on August 4th for 1200 MSP and will be well worth the price I am sure. Players will be able to play with up to 6 people cooperatively and choose from Castlevania characters from games such as Symphony of the Night and Portrait of Ruin. The XP system has reportedly been nixed, but players will be able to keep any items and weapons they may have obtained during gameplay.
"Destination Arcade" Coming to Xbox LIVE on July 14th
Have you been wanting an easier and more stylish way to browse all of the content on Xbox LIVE? I highly doubt you answered no, so you are in for a real treat.
This morning Xbox’s Major Nelson released news of a new visual browser coming to the Xbox dashboard titled “Destination Arcade.” The browser will offer an easy to use interface, a brand new recommendation system, and better filtering options. All of which will be coming to the US on July 14th!
It’s about time they get rid of the current clunky search features and add some style. Thank you Microsoft.
Those of you who aren’t completely bored with the music genre now will be getting some cheap song downloads this week. Rock Band, Guitar Hero 5, and Lips will have around 100 songs at a discounted rate for Xbox’s “LIVEapalooza.”
